B & C and The 3 Little Pigs

I have two weeks of preschool pictures to fill everyone in on! This week we had so much fun talking about the three little pigs and they LOVED all the variations of the stories we found. The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig might have been their favorite. Enjoy the pictures! We have our farm field trip coming up on Friday, October 5th so look for a more detailed flyer on Monday.
"B" Week Art: painting with blue, black, and brown

Friendship week included drawing pictures and giving them to a friend.

We measured, weighed, and compared the sticks and bricks that the pigs used to build their houses.

Bedtime Stories with Dad

Since preschoolers miss out on celebrating Father's Day in the summer, we wanted to show our gratitude to the special men in our lives with a school time event! Bedtime Stories with Dad will be a sweet and snuggly chance to promote literacy to the little ones and especially to have some one on one time reading stories, having some treats, and working on a craft together. Invite dad, grandpa, friend, or another special someone to our Bedtime Stories on Monday, September 24th from 6:30-7:30pm in our classroom. Don't forget a blanket to sit on, pajamas, and your favorite night time snugglie!

Hope to see you all there!

"A" Week

We were very busy this week. We had chapel for the first time and our class did a terrific job listening and singing along. We emphasized how special we are and we did a lot of work with the letter "A".  I was picture crazy this week, enjoy!
"A" is for apple printing, our first addition to our Jumbo Alphabet Gallery

Making airplanes out of our scrap paper

Proud of his airplane!

I was surprised at how much time the kids spent at the sensory table this week: scrap paper and scissors! Who knew?!? It was excellent cutting practice for them.

Categorizing animals that spend most of their time in land, water, or air.

Our shape for this month is the circle. I gathered a plethora of circular objects for them to print with and they had a ball!

This project involved matching up alphabet stickers on the letters printed on a cardboard tube; this proved to be pretty tricky but I was impressed with how long many of them really stuck with it.

Throwing circle bean bags through our (somewhat) circular hula hoop. I guess O was giving some good instructions :)

Reading Alphabet Rescue - such good listeners!

Some "A" practice: separating upper and lowercase and everyone gave their letter writing a shot on the marker board.

We had an amazingly fun dance party to celebrate the rain!

More dancers!

Last activity of the week, putting ant and apple stickers  on the lines of our letter "A"s

First Week of School!!!

We had a wonderful first week of school. The enthusiasm level was through the roof and they were so much fun to be around! We focused on learning how to behave in our classroom, and we did a lot of work with name recognition - one of the first big steps in learning to read! Their names are so important to them and we will continue to work on recognizing and writing names.

We used bingo blotters to trace and decorate our very special names!

They loved the play dough sculpture center so much at "Meet the Teacher" we brought it out for the first day of school!

Ms. Elaine helping build with our fairy connectagons.

Concentrating very hard on tracing our names in the writing center. This was a popular spot on the second day of school.

She was the first one to discover our letter magnets on the fridge!
